Self-Parenting

Do you love yourself through thick and thin like a good self-parent?

In a culture of perpetual insecurity that thrives on shame, something really interesting happens when we turn our loving (parental) instincts back on ourselves.

How would you talk to yourself if you were someone you loved?

Choose inner dialogue halfway between the father and the mother: firm and compassionate, a kick in the ass when you're slacking, bath and a backrub when you've done your best.

Can the way you speak to yourself encourage delayed gratification and consequences when needed? Praise when you do good? Kindness and acceptance at all times?

You're always hanging out with yourself, choose to spend that time with someone who loves you.
