Cathy French is a teacher and channel.

She guides Yoga Nidra practices that honour Irish Animism + the Celtic wheel of the year. Her work centers intimacy and reciprocity with the planet, our ancestors and unlocking the intuitive wisdom of our human bodies.

As a rising Irish voice within the wellness and eco-sensual community, Cathy’s personal manifesto encompasses ‘decolonising Irish animism, becoming a better ancestor and helping students to forge reconnection with the more-than-human world’. She is passionate about guiding people back to an embodied presence through the principles of erotic aliveness, the simple pleasures of movement and deep rest.

Cathy’s approach honours a relational, earth-based spirituality embracing the wisdom found in sacred wells, eucalyptus trees, passage tombs, salt water and bog cotton. Her work draws on a deep grá for poetry, Eros and the power of spoken word. She encourages her students to live into their questions.

Her classes, workshops and retreats are conducted within a warm, supportive, womb positive, and queer affirming environment informed by core values of compassion, integrity, social, racial and earth justice.

Borne of a deeply-held desire to share tools and practices adapted to help women and girls heal from shame appropriated from contemporary patriarchal contexts, Cathy offers a range of custom-tailored workshops and women’s circles. Her commitment to dismantling systems of oppression with humour and love is further evidenced through her creation of the Mná an Tobair online community.

Cathy returned home to Ireland in 2019 having spent five years living off-grid in Las’—Sik territory in the Pacific Northwest of California. She is currently based in Dublin where she works as teacher of English language and literature to migrant teenagers at Marino College. She leads workshops for the Celtic Wheel on the Attune to the Moon community platform and teaches privately for clients including The Irish Cancer Society.

Her professional credentials include a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and thousands of hours of practice and training with leading stateside teachers and practitioners in modalities including Prana Vinyasa, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Katonah Yoga and Ancestral Lineage Repair Work.

Her teachers and inspirations include Bayo Akomolafe, adrienne maree brown, Alexis Pauline Gumbs, Daniel Foor, Kimberly Johnson, Jana Roemer, Resmaa Menakem, Joanna Macy, Mari Kennedy, Shiva Rea , Caroline Myss, Ally Bogard, Pat McCabe to name but a few.
